This is the fastest path from "just signed up" to "got a real verified contact in front of me." It takes about a minute, costs 1 credit if it succeeds (and 0 if it doesn't), and shows you what prospiq is really like before you commit to anything bigger.
Step 1 — Sign in and land on the dashboard
After you complete signup and the short onboarding flow, you arrive on the Dashboard. You'll see:
- A greeting at the top
- Four stat tiles (Searches, Verified, Hit Rate, Credits — all zero on day one, with your 20 free credits visible on the right)
- A Quick actions panel with three shortcuts
- A "Getting started" checklist at the bottom showing what to do next
The first checklist item ("Create your account") is already ticked. The next one is "Run your first search."
Step 2 — Open the search page
You have three ways to get there:
- Click Search in the left sidebar
- Click Search contact in the Quick actions panel
- Click Start searching in the empty-state card
All three take you to the same place: the search page, which is the heart of the product.
Step 3 — Pick what you want to find
At the top of the search form you'll see an I'm looking for toggle with three options:
- Email — find the work email only (1 credit if it succeeds)
- Phone — find the direct phone only (10 credits if it succeeds)
- Both — find both at once (up to 11 credits if both succeed)
For your first lookup, start with Email. It's cheap, it succeeds more often than phone, and one credit out of your free twenty is the right way to dip a toe in.
Step 4 — Enter a name and company
Fill in three fields:
- First name — the person's first name
- Last name — their last name
- Company — the company they work at
You don't need to format these perfectly. "Acme" works, "Acme Corp" works, "Acme Corporation" works. We do the disambiguation on our side.
A tip: for your first lookup, pick someone you actually know — a colleague, a friend at another company, a contact whose email you can verify by sight. That way you can confirm the result is correct.
Step 5 — Hit Find Email
Click the big Find Email button. A spinner appears for a few seconds — this is the real verification running, not a fake delay. Then the result card slides in below.
Step 6 — Read the result
You'll see one of two things:
If we found it
A green Verified badge appears with:
- The person's name and company
- The verified work email address
- A copy button next to the email (one click to copy)
- "1 credit used" in the bottom-left
- Two action buttons in the bottom-right — Draft outreach and Save to list
That email has cleared every verification check. You can send to it with confidence.
If we couldn't find it
The result card shows that no verified email was found, and you'll see "No credits used" — confirming we didn't charge you. See Why some contacts come back empty for what to try.
Step 7 — Try a phone lookup (optional)
If you want to spend a few more credits to see phone enrichment work, click the Phone mode toggle and run another search on the same person. Phone costs 10 credits if it succeeds — a meaningful chunk of your free 20, but worth seeing once.
Or try Both — if you just looked them up in Email mode, both will often come back showing the cached email (no extra charge) plus a phone if available.
What to do next
Once you've got a few successful lookups under your belt:
- Save them to a list. Click Save to list on any result. See Saved lists for how lists work.
- Try a bulk upload. If you have a CSV of names + companies, the Bulk enrich page processes them all at once. See Bulk upload from CSV.
- Try company search. If you want to find every decision-maker at a target company, use the Companies page. See Company search.
