We built prospiq, so we're not neutral. Hunter is one of the best-known email finders, and for some teams it's the better choice. Here's where the two differ, using Hunter's own pricing page, checked on 15 October 2026.

The short answer

If you only need work emails, mostly find them by company domain, and want the lowest cost per email, Hunter is hard to beat. If you also need phone numbers, want to pay in rupees with a GST invoice, or want help writing and planning outreach, prospiq fits better.

Pricing

Hunter (USD, billed monthly / yearly):

  • Free: 50 credits a month
  • Starter: $49 / $34 a month, 2,000 credits
  • Growth: $149 / $104 a month, 10,000 credits
  • Scale: $299 / $209 a month, 25,000 credits

prospiq (USD, or INR + 18% GST in India):

  • Free: 20 one-time credits
  • Starter: $29 (Rs 2,399) a month, 500 credits
  • Growth: $59 (Rs 4,799) a month, 1,500 credits
  • Pro: $99 (Rs 7,999) a month, 3,500 credits

To be straight about it: per email, Hunter's credits are cheaper. Hunter Starter works out to about 2.5 cents a credit; prospiq Starter to about 6 cents for each verified email. If emails are all you need, at volume, that gap matters.

Phone numbers

This is the biggest difference. Hunter's pricing page doesn't offer phone numbers. prospiq finds direct phone numbers for 10 credits each, only when one is found, and a lookup can return up to 2 numbers.

What you pay when nothing is found

Both tools are fair here. Hunter says that if an email address can't be found, it's free, and failed verifications don't use a credit. prospiq charges nothing for an email it can't verify or a phone it can't find. If a prospiq-verified email later bounces, email support@prospiq.net with the bounced addresses within 30 days and we'll put the credits back in your account. No forms, no hassle.

Unused credits

prospiq's unused credits on paid plans roll over for one month, up to twice your plan. Hunter's pricing page doesn't say credits roll over on monthly plans, so check before you buy.

How you find people

  • Hunter is built around the company domain: enter a domain and see the emails it can find, or search by name. It also includes email sequences.
  • prospiq is built around the person: a name and company, a CSV, or the Chrome extension on LinkedIn and Sales Navigator. It pushes contacts to HubSpot, Salesforce or Zoho. It doesn't send emails.

AI

Hunter has an AI assistant inside its Discover search. prospiq includes prospiq AI, five sales modules: Cold Email Writer (two email versions with subject lines and timing from any search result), ICP Builder, Company Research, Prospecting Coach and Free Chat. Unlimited on paid plans.

Billing in India

prospiq bills in rupees by UPI or card with a GST invoice. Hunter bills in US dollars.

Pick Hunter if

  • you only need emails, at high volume, at the lowest cost per email
  • you prospect by company domain
  • you want sequences in the same tool

Pick prospiq if

  • you need phone numbers as well as emails
  • you'd rather pay in rupees with a GST invoice
  • your usage changes month to month, so rollover helps
  • you want help deciding who to target and what to write

The fairest test: run the same 50 contacts through both and compare what you got and what you paid. prospiq's Free plan has 20 credits to try, no card needed. Full details are on prospiq.net/facts.
