LinkedIn Email Finder: Get an Email and Phone from a Profile
How a LinkedIn email finder works, what LinkedIn shows for free, and how to get a verified work email and phone without risking your account.
To find an email from LinkedIn, first check the person's Contact info. You'll only see an email if you're connected and they chose to share it, and it's often a personal address. For a work email or phone number, use a LinkedIn email finder, a Chrome extension that reads the name and company on the profile you're viewing and looks up their verified work email and, if you ask, their phone.
This guide covers what LinkedIn shows you on its own, how these extensions work, a step-by-step walkthrough, when a phone number is worth paying for, and how to stay on the right side of LinkedIn's rules.
What LinkedIn shows you on its own
Every LinkedIn profile has a Contact info link under the person's name. What you see there depends on two things.
- Your connection. Contact info such as email and phone is mainly visible to 1st-degree connections (LinkedIn Help).
- Their settings. Members choose who can see their email address, from only themselves up to anyone on LinkedIn (LinkedIn Help).
In practice, that means three common outcomes.
- You're not connected, so there's nothing to see.
- You're connected, and you see the email they signed up with. That's usually Gmail or similar, not their work address.
- You're connected, and they've added a work email or phone on purpose. This is the best case, and it's rare.
So LinkedIn is great for finding the right person. It's not built to hand you their work inbox. That's the gap a LinkedIn email finder fills.
How a LinkedIn email finder extension works
Most tools follow the same basic flow, whatever the brand.
- It reads what's on the page. When you open a profile, the extension picks up the person's name and current company.
- It works out the company's domain. "Acme Logistics" becomes acme-logistics.com, or whatever the real domain is.
- It looks up the email. Tools use some mix of their own database, data partners and known company email patterns to find a candidate address.
- It checks the address. Better tools ask the company's mail server whether that mailbox exists before showing it to you.
- It returns a result, and in most tools charges you a credit for it.
The differences that matter are in steps 4 and 5. Is the email checked before you see it? Are you charged for a guess or only for a verified result? How does the tool handle catch-all domains, which accept mail for any address and so can't be checked by a simple mail-server test? Our post on what email verification actually tells you explains why a green tick at a catch-all domain proves less than it looks.
How to find an email from LinkedIn with a Chrome extension, step by step
Here's the process with prospiq's Chrome extension. The steps are similar in most tools.
1. Add the extension and sign in
Add the prospiq Chrome extension and sign in to your account. If you don't have one, the Free plan gives you 20 credits once, with no card needed.
2. Open the LinkedIn profile
Go to the profile of the person you want to reach, the way you normally would. Do this one person at a time, as part of real research. More on why below.
3. Ask for the email, and the phone if you need it
The extension takes the person's name and company from the profile and returns their verified work email. Ask for the phone number too if you plan to call.
- Verified work email: 1 credit.
- Phone number: 10 credits.
- Both: 11 credits.
- Nothing found: 0 credits.
Phone lookups return up to 2 numbers where available. If you look up someone you've already found, it's free.
4. Check what you got
Every email is checked with the mail server before you're charged. At catch-all domains, it only returns an email a data partner has confirmed for that person. Otherwise it returns nothing and charges nothing. If a verified email still bounces later, email support@prospiq.net with the bounced addresses within 30 days and the credits are put back in your account.
You'll get work emails only, not personal Gmail or Yahoo addresses.
5. Save it and write something worth reading
Save the contact to a list so you're not looking them up twice. Then use what you saw on their profile, such as a recent post, role change or company news, to write a first line that shows you did your homework. For a full routine, see how to prospect on LinkedIn without wasting hours.
How to find a phone number from LinkedIn
Phone numbers are harder than emails. Very few people put a mobile number in their LinkedIn Contact info, and there's no pattern to guess from like there is with email. A phone number lookup depends on the tool's data sources, which is why phone credits usually cost more than email credits.
When a phone number is worth paying for
In the walkthrough above, a phone costs 10 times an email, so be choosy. A phone is worth it when:
- the deal is big enough that a 5-minute call beats three weeks of email follow-ups
- the buyer is in a market or role where calls get answered and emails don't
- you've emailed twice with no reply and the account is still a top target
- you're running a short, focused call block on a handful of priority accounts
For a list of 200 mid-fit leads, emails alone are usually the better spend. We go deeper in when a phone number is worth finding for a B2B prospect, and in cold calling vs cold emailing.
In India, many B2B conversations move to calls and WhatsApp quickly, so a direct number can matter more than it would elsewhere. But a phone number is personal data. Call during business hours, say who you are and why you're calling in the first sentence, and stop if they ask you to.
Staying within LinkedIn's rules
This is the part most "best LinkedIn email finder" articles skip, and it can cost you your account.
What LinkedIn says
LinkedIn's help centre has a page on prohibited software and extensions. It says LinkedIn doesn't allow third-party software, including browser extensions, that scrapes, modifies the appearance of or automates activity on its site. It also explains how it handles automated activity and when accounts get restricted. Read these pages yourself and make your own call on which tools you install.
Practical rules to protect your account
- Look people up one at a time. Opening a profile you're genuinely researching is normal use. Visiting hundreds of profiles an hour is not.
- Don't use tools that crawl search results for you. Anything that pages through LinkedIn searches and extracts profiles in bulk is scraping.
- Avoid auto-connect and auto-message bots. They're the fastest way to an account restriction.
- Keep your volume human. If you need contacts for 2,000 people, don't get them by opening 2,000 profiles. Build the list from name and company data and use a bulk upload instead. See how to build a prospect list from zero.
Respect the people you contact
Finding a work email doesn't mean you have permission to spam it. Send relevant, low-volume emails, make it easy to say no, and honour opt-outs. Anyone can ask prospiq to exclude their data at prospiq.net/opt-out. If you're in India, the DPDP Act applies to how you handle personal data, so check with a lawyer about your specific use.
Alternatives to a LinkedIn email finder extension
Facts below are from each vendor's site, as of October 2026.
LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Sales Navigator is LinkedIn's own paid tool for finding and tracking prospects and messaging them through InMail. Core is US$119.99 a month and Advanced is US$159.99 a month per licence, and the free trial requires payment details (LinkedIn). It's the best tool for search and account tracking inside LinkedIn, and the rules-safe way to work at volume there. Its plan page doesn't list email addresses as a feature, so most teams pair it with an email finder.
Lusha
Lusha's free plan gives 40 credits a month with no card. A verified email costs 1 credit and a phone number costs 5, and a lookup with no match costs nothing (Lusha FAQ, Lusha pricing). Its extension works on LinkedIn profiles and Sales Navigator and shows whether an email or phone exists before you spend a credit. If phone numbers are most of what you need, Lusha's lower per-phone credit cost is worth comparing.
Kaspr
Kaspr is built as a LinkedIn extension, and you must link your LinkedIn account to use it (Kaspr FAQ). The free plan includes 5 phone and 5 email credits a month and needs at least 20 LinkedIn connections. Paid plans start at 59 euros per month per licence (Kaspr help).
Apollo
Apollo's Chrome extension works on LinkedIn profiles and Sales Navigator (Apollo help). The free plan includes 50 email credits a month with no card (Apollo). It suits teams who want lookups, a contact database and email sequences in one place.
Snov.io
Snov.io's LI Prospect Finder extension finds emails from personal LinkedIn profiles (Snov.io help). The free plan gives 50 credits a month that you can spend on LinkedIn prospects, domain searches or verifications (Snov.io). It suits people who want to find and send from the same tool.
Which one fits you
Pick Sales Navigator for search, Lusha or Kaspr if phones are the priority, and Apollo or Snov.io if you want sending built in. If you'd rather pay only when you get a verified email or a phone number, billed in INR in India, look at prospiq's pricing. Whichever you pick, test it on 20 to 30 people from your real target list before you pay. prospiq's Free plan gives you 20 credits for that, with no card needed.
FAQ
Can I get someone's email from LinkedIn for free?
Sometimes. If you're a 1st-degree connection and they've shared it, it's in their Contact info. For a work email, most LinkedIn email finder extensions have a free plan or free credits to start, so you can find a few emails without paying.
Is it legal to use a LinkedIn email finder?
Using a business email for relevant B2B outreach is common, but laws on personal data and marketing messages differ by country, including India's DPDP Act. Separately, LinkedIn's own rules restrict extensions that scrape or automate its site. Check with a lawyer for your situation, and read LinkedIn's help pages on prohibited software.
Will using a LinkedIn email finder get my account banned?
LinkedIn restricts accounts it sees scraping or automating activity. Looking up people one at a time as you research them carries far less risk than bulk tools, bots or auto-connect software. There's no guarantee either way, so keep your activity human-paced.
Can I find a phone number from a LinkedIn profile?
Only if the person added it to Contact info and you're connected, which is rare. Otherwise you need a tool with phone data. Phone lookups cost more than email lookups, so save them for prospects you'd actually call.
What's the best LinkedIn email finder Chrome extension?
It depends on what you value. Lusha is strong on phone and shows if data exists before you reveal it. Kaspr is LinkedIn-native. Apollo bundles a database and sequences. Snov.io adds sending. Test two on your own prospects and compare verified results, not features.
Does LinkedIn Sales Navigator show email addresses?
Sales Navigator is built for finding, tracking and InMailing prospects inside LinkedIn. Its plan comparison page doesn't list email addresses as a feature. Most teams use it alongside an email finder.
